Pedophiles on Facebook?

This past week a “cause” on Facebook urged members to change their profile picture to the image of their favorite cartoon character. This is to support violence against children, supposedly.

A rumor followed this wall post suggestion that the cartoon cause was originally sponsored by pedophiles operating on the social networking site in a ruse to attract young members to “friend” them with the bait being a friendly cartoon profile picture.

We’re watching this story and will update as additional details become available.

(newsJAPAN) Giant squids have accumulated in vast numbers off the Sea of Japan, hampering seafarers and shipping lanes alike. Fishermen have redoubled efforts to keep nets clear with two fishermen unaccounted for since Sunday afternoon.

“It’s the worse attack we’ve ever seen” is the description of one Japanese fisherman (translated by Roger DeWalt, on location in a coastal village).

Countless fishermen are seeking government relief, attempting to head off desperation and bankuptcy in an already falling market.

(Israel) A woman bought a surprise gift for her mother, a new mattress, which unknowingly contained the mother’s life savings, apprx. one million dollars.

The money is now lost somewhere within three garbage dumps, amongst 2,500 tones of garbage that is dumped every day. The dumps have increased security to keep out treasure hunters and the woman, her mother and friends continue their frantic search. Who wouldn’t?

Homeless man coppers it up

(MidNews) A homeless man was almost arrested at a metal recycling plant as he was selling 40lbs of copper.

It seems that the homeless man (name unavailable) was turning in more than 40lbs of flattened pennies retrieved from alongside railroad tracks, and when the clerk at the metal recycling shop realized what the medal was and the police were called.

“There was no arrest” said Sgt. Flaherty, spokesman for Midtown PD “but the appropriate authorities were called before that decision was made”. An insider, that wished to remain anonymous, reported that the FBI and Treasury agents were also called in, as the copper was “currency, despite it’s present condition” and destruction is outlined as a crime in the federal statutes concerning currency.

Lawyer gets “booted” pants to follow

(BANGOR) A respected lawyer (EDITOR: hehe) with more than 3 outstanding traffic tickets had his vehicle “booted” with the expectation that he would call the police, pay his outstanding fines, and get on with his life.

Apparently, he decided to skip step one and two and just drive away, resulting in more than $400.00 damages to the boot and an undisclosed amount of damage to the lawyer’s vehicle.

When the boot is placed on a vehicle “A large orange poster is stuck to the vehicle’s windscreen to notify the driver that the vehicle has been ‘booted’ ” says Officer McLure, “so it’s unreasonable to expect anyone to still attempt to move their vehicle when booted”.

The state bar is also expected to investigate “possible criminal activity” since the damage to the “boot” caused when the unnamed lawyer attempted to drive away could be charged as “criminal mischief causing felony damage to state property”.

Dinosaur in New Zealand

(NZN) – A pink dinosaur has appeared on a volcano crater webcam used by New Zealand’s Geological and Nuclear Sciences (GNS). The dinosaur, a plastic model of Dino from the Flintstones, was placed in front of the camera by an unknown visitor to the remote island. The GNS has no plans to remove the dinosaur, but will instead let the sulphur and acid in the area deal with it. Environmentalists are planning a “Save the Dino” campaign, details to be announced.

Freak wave at boatshow causes accident

(OBS) – The Seattle Boat Show was off to a horrific start when a boat trailer careened out of control trapping one and severely injuring one other earlier today. Mr. Sevensten, a boat show representative stated “This was a totally freak accident and had nothing whatsoever to do with the poor choice of location as many have suggested.” It should be noted that there were several protesters on hand at the start of this year’s boat show condemning local government for allowing the show to go on in an old-growth forest, more than 150 miles from the ocean. “We had nothing to do with the accident” said Murray Walter, spokesman for ‘Old Growth Tree Supporters’ or ‘OGTS’, “but nature does have a voice of it’s own, one way or another”. The trapped lady was freed after 20 minutes of being pinned down by the errant boat trailer. It was later revealed that she was a member of the protest group and had chained herself to the boat trailer.

Beer Drinking Squirrel

(CNY) – Campers in a remote northern community have discovered that Budweiser really is the King Of Beers as far as the local wildlife is concerned. Two campers reported minor cuts and scratches as they were forced away from their picnic table by an aggressive squirrel. Conservation officers were later able to trap the squirrel by pouring beer into a cardboard box and waiting. The squirrel will be treated and released.

(SIA) – Man discovers alligator in toilet. At first the household in Simping, Ala., was in an uproar over the discovery of local wildlife invading a most private area of a family’s space. Mr. Burnhart, owner, was unsure how the alligator ended up where it did, but when he saw it he quickly took the accompanying picture. “We run on a septic tank, so it couldn’t have come through the pipes.” he stated. “But the kids and the dogs are always dragging things into the house. Last year we had a raccoon living under the kitchen sink for a couple of weeks. We didn’t notice it until the smell started to get to us.”
