(CWN) – The National Hurricane Center has approached government officials in hopes of a new bill to pass into law requiring residents of hurricane prone areas to be better prepared and evacuation centers to be a permanent location in hurricane alley areas. “Considering the devastation of the recent hurricanes, it would be irresponsible not to force people to be better prepared,” stated an unnamed official of the Hurricane Center. “Storm shelters, personal emergency supplies and such should be mandatory when your life is at risk and it’s time for a harder line to protect the population of these areas.” The bill, currently being written, stands little chance of passing into law, but the hopes of the Hurricane Center officials is that residents will begin to realize the danger of living where they do and the financial burden that choice makes. If the bill does get passed, national real estate office and insurance companies predict wild changes in prices, fees and property values.
